Melodies in Mind

I'll be making what seems to be an annual live appearance on the Melodies in Mind radio program tomorrow evening. There's certainly a lot to talk about with the band changes over the past year, the radio interest received by Next Time Around, the bundle of new songs still in production and what that might mean in terms of a record release, the upcoming show with Clute and special guest Henrikee and my contemplation of a semi-solo tour in the summer or fall.

With respect to Next Time Around, some might recall that we were awarded "Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album" in the August 2015 Academia Music Awards. The main prize for that was a radio promotion program entered on the title track. In September the song was played more than 780 times on 5 radio stations. As of the end of December, it had been played a total of more than 9,775 times across 20 stations worldwide, with more than 40% of those plays in December itself.

On February 7 we were sent an email stating: "Berkshire Media Group recently collated the monthly chart data and provided it to us. We are pleased to inform you that your song ‘Next Time Around’ hit the #1 position on the charts and held that position for an impressive period of time in the month of October 2015. Chart position was established by number of spins, listener requests and station tune-ins."  With rotation secured on even more stations around the world as of February 1st, the song and album do not appear to be played out yet.

The band has decided to take a much more selective approach to performing this year, giving greater emphasis to rehearsals and studio time. As a result, don't expect more than a few well rehearsed performances locally by the band in 2016. Our first show of the year will be March 18 at the Seven Dining Lounge. We're proud to again be sharing the stage with Clute, and also to introduce the Vancouver scene to Henrikee, a Brazilian singer songwriter recently arrived on our shores. Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 in advance if purchased through one of the bands or online through eventbrite.  For a limited time use the code "ricksblog7" and get an additional 30% off when purchasing your tickets online.
